Reta Bunnell Griffin, age 93, of  Longview, TX, formerly of Los Alamos NM passed away on December 21, 2018. Reta Bunnell was born at Fairport, MO, on September 18, 1925, to Elbert H. Bunnell and Gladys Bunnell. She was preceded in death by her Father, Elbert H. Bunnell, her Mother, Gladys Bunnell Owen, her sister Maxine Bunnell, brother Elbert Bunnell, grandson Ryan Griffin and great grandsons Alex and Kyle Olbert. Reta Bunnell was married to Virgil W. Griffin on October 26, 1948 at the First Baptist Church, Cameron, MO.  They recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. They moved to Los Alamos in 1948 after their marriage. Reta graduated from Cameron High School, Cameron, MO in 1943.  She attended Southwest Baptist University. Bolivar, MO, and later attended the Univ. of NM, Northern Branch, Los Alamos, NM. Reta worked as secretary for the First Baptist Church for many years and served as the Church Hospitality Chairman and Sunday School Director for young children. She later went to work for the Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1965 as a Group Secretary in the Engineering Department and retired in 1987 as a Quality Assurance Senior Auditor. Reta loved her husband and family and enjoyed being with them.  She was always very proud of her family and loved to take care of her grandchildren and great granddaughter.  She also enjoyed entertaining friends and serving the Lord through her church activities at First Baptist Church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for 64 years. She is survived by her husband, Virgil W. Griffin; sons, Gary V. Griffin and wife Mary of  Rockport, TX; Keith H. Griffin and wife Melissa of Longview TX; Wayne M. Griffin and wife Candice of Amarillo, TX., also 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and another due in March. Services will be January 3, 2019 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, Los Alamos, NM with burial to follow at 2:15 PM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, with the following serving as pallbearers; Bob Little, Joshua Griffin, Travis Olbert, Tony Griffin, Bob Poe, and Andrew Tung. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Brown, Walter Pickett, and Ed Little.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Gideons International Organization or the NM Baptist Children’s Home, PO box 629  Portales, NM. 88130.  The family of Reta Bunnell Griffin as entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Espanola Valley.  505-747-7477. www.devargasfuneral.com
