Michael Martinez

Michael Martinez, beloved husband, father and son, was called to his eternal resting place on Sunday, June 7, 2020.

He was proceeded in death by his Tata Richard Martinez, Nana Lydia Martinez, grandmother Cora Ross, cousins Mia Blea and Audrey Ross, best friends Ignacio “Nacho” Saaveda and Rodney Judu, with many other family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife Justine Martinez, children Nyah Lopez, Marqus Lopez, Symphany Martinez and Trinity Martinez, his father Michael Martinez and wife Cheryl, his mother Veronica Garcia and husband Mike, brother Richard Martinez, sisters Vanessa Sanchez, Jenna Bland, Kathleen Trujillo, Jennifer Garcia, nephews Jeremiah and Dominik Pacheco, Jacob Roybal, Zane Lucero, Jordyn and Jaxon Garcia, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Michael was born in Grants, NM, but soon moved to the beautiful Espanola Valley with his passion for lowrider cars. Michael worked for the United States Postal Service for many years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and children to many different states and attending lowrider car shows. Michael loved being in nature, helping others and spending time with his friends who he considered family. He enjoyed attending concerts because of his passion for music, especially Kevin Gates. He enjoyed playing handball, washing his numerous cars, wearing bandanas and watching the Raiders play. He had so much love for his dogs and his motorcycle. Anyone who knew Michael, saw the love he had for his family and friends. Michael will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

A public visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home.  A burial service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Grants Memorial Cemetery in Grants, N.M.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Richard Martinez, Marqus Lopez, Marcus Sanchez, Albert Torres, Leroy Valdez and Jay Garcia.

Honorable pallbearers are Jacob Viarrial, Andrew Borrego and Joser Mendoza.

The family of Michael Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
