Jacqueline Peckham

Jacqueline Peckham, passed away on Feb. 25, 2019. She had just turned 72. She is survived by her sisters, Joyce Zaugg and husband, Tom and Lois Peckham; brother, Allen Peckham and wife, Karlena; by her nieces, Irene Zaugg, Paige Peckham and wife, Stacey, and Abby Schmitz and husband, Mark, and by nephew, Brian Zaugg. She was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis and father, Leonard Peckham.

Jackie was born in Mare Island Naval Base, California, February 23, 1947. Each one of her younger siblings was born in a different state – and one in Puerto Rico – as the family moved around during Leonard’s Navy service. After he retired, the family moved to Iowa, then moved finally to Branson, Missouri, where Jackie lived with her parents until her mother’s death in 1984 and father’s death in 1988. Jackie moved in 1989 to Los Alamos, New Mexico, to be near her sister Joyce’s family. Jackie worked at the Sombrillo Nursing Center until her own retirement.

Jackie was a kind, generous person who volunteered with Self Help and the Retired & Senior Organization. She was passionate about embroidery and yarn arts and most of her friends and family own at least one stitched table cloth, towel, or Kleenex box that she made for them. She participated every year in the Senior Olympics with her many friends and won several medals.

A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. with a Memorial Mass to follow service at 10 a.m. on March 9, 2019 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3700 Canyon Road, Los Alamos, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Los Alamos Retired & Senior Organization at losalamosseniorcenter.org or to Los Alamos Self Help at selfhelpla.org.
