Grace Valdez

Grace Valdez, 79, a resident of Jacona formerly of El Rito North was born on September 28, 1938 and went to be with our Lord on Friday, January 26, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Benito; parents, Rufino and Cordelia Garcia; siblings, Isaac, Dorothy, Julia, Mary and Juan; In-laws, Valentine and Eva Valdez, Andy, Lucas, Luben and Maria. Grace was a hobbyist at heart and always had projects to do, whether it was sewing, quilting, crocheting, ceramics and even carpentry. Growing up in the mountains, she loved the outdoors. She enjoyed camping and going for piñon and fire wood. She will be missed by all who knew her and crossed her path. Grace is survived by her 4 children, Darlene (Arsenio), Laureen (Alec), Dennis and Patrick (Kathy) Valdez; 9 grandchildren, Delaine, Amanda (Cliff), Matthew (Spencer), Andrew (Elizabeth), Alana, Jerry Lee, Mikey, Shannon, and Pierce; 3 great grandkiddos, Ben, Ava and Adrick; honorary friend, Deacon John Archuleta; siblings, Eugene (Esther) Garcia and Evangeline (Lawrence) Jaramillo; In-laws, Gregoria (Joe) Tafoya, Irma (Joe) Lujan, Mela Sanchez, Tony (Tessie) Valdez, Felia Duran, Corina (Joe) Romero, Michael (Terry) Valdez, Virginia Garcia, Liz Garcia and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Salazar, Andrew Salazar, Arsenio Gallegos, Alec Mottershead, George Sanchez, Brent Jaramillo, Jerry Lee Gutierrez and Chris Garcia. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Nambe. The family of Grace Valdez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
