Bernabe (Barnie) Martinez

Bernabe (Barnie) Martinez, 69, a resident of Medanales, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.  Bernabe (Barnie) was preceded in death by his parents, Adelaido and Leontina Martinez; brother, Luis Martinez; sisters, Bennie Scotch and Eulalia Gonzales.  Barnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.  In his spare time, he enjoyed farming, fishing, and hunting. He was also known for his great sense of humor.  Barnie was a veteran of the U.S. Army (Vietnam). Prior to retiring he was employed with LANL for 35 years.  He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.  Barnie is survived by his wife, Vivian L. Martinez; sons, Adelaido J. Martinez and companion Antonette, and Miguel B. Martinez and companion Alicia; grandsons, Samuel I. Martinez and Javier S. Martinez; sisters, Helen (Buz) Garcia and Jeannette Martinez; brothers, Armante (Frances) Martinez, Sifredo (Amelia) Martinez, Fabian (Marian) Martinez, Carlos (Linda) Martinez, Eduardo Martinez and Jose (Patricia) Archuleta; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends whom he loved dearly. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory.
