Willie Lee Watkins, 45, of Espanola, NM passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 following a sudden illness.\r\nHe was born on September 15, 1965 in Colorado, attended the School for the Deaf in Santa Fe where he played high school football and graduated with honors.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his father, Willie Watkins Sr., and his mother Sharon Davidson of Colorado.\r\nHe is survived by his Stepmother, Anna Watkins of Arkansas, two sisters, Flossie Watkins of Arkansas, and Edna May (Polly); one brother, Donnie Watkins of Kansas.\r\nWillie is also survived by good friends that he called his FAMILY. Elizardo Gallegos Sr. and sons, Elizardo Jr., and Emmanuel, the late Eliseo Gallegos & Family of San Pedro, Richard Quintana & Family of Santa Fe, Martha & Jesse Salazar & their children; Jesse, Gabriel, Heather, and Ricardo (grandson) of Española, David Lopez Sr. and companion Diane Martinez & son David Jr. of El Llano, Oliver & Edwina Holmes of Rio Rancho, Paul Jaramillo Jr. and Ninah Barela of San Pedro whom he thought of as a brother and sister; and many other friends. Willie also had two special pet friends whom he loved dearly; Precious & Duece Watkins.\r\nWillie enjoyed going to the Casino, fishing, dancing up a storm, eating at McDonald’s, and listening to the music of Journey. He was an outgoing, caring and friendly person with a kind heart. Many knew him from working at Lee’s Unique Produce and the Klean World Laundry for Richard Quintana for many years in Española.\r\nCremation has taken place at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory and a memorial service is pending at Victory Faith Church in Española to be celebrated at a later date.
