Wilfred J. Salazar, Jr., 63, a resident of La Villita, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016. Wilfred was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred Salazar, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Sirila and Salvatore DiLorenzo; paternal grandparents, Luis and Cleofas Salazar; nephews, Leroy Quintana and Donald Espinoza; padrinos, Vicente and Isabel Guillen, and many aunts, uncles and other relatives too numerous to mention, but never forgotten, may their souls rest in peace. Wilfred proudly served in the Army right out of high school and then graduated college and worked for the State of New Mexico Highway Department as a surveyor.  He was an avid sports enthusiast with his favorite team being the Dallas Cowboys.  He played baseball in high school and would have played college ball if he had not sustained a leg injury.  He played softball for many years alongside his father.  He was always a happy person always wanting to help everyone out. He will be deeply missed by everyone. Mr. Salazar is survived by his mother, Maxine Salazar; brother, Norman; sisters, Felicia and Lila all of La Villita; children, Wilfredo and wife Lily of Albuquerque, and Lupita and Rhonda of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren, Angel, Raul, Azul, Taranicole, Vanessa and Joseph; the mother of his children, Lucille Salazar of Las Vegas, NV; great-aunt, Trinnie Mestas of California; very close nephews, Marcos Espinoza and wife LeeAnn and Matthew Salazar and fiancé Alejandra; very close nieces, Rachel Quintana and Angelica and Danny Aragon; close cousins who helped with his care, Vincent Guillen and wife Anna and Eliseo Montoya and wife Irene; and many nieces and nephews and close cousins. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial Mass and burial will be held at a later date. A luncheon will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Onate Monument Center in Alcalde. The family of Wilfred J.
