Whabiz D. Age 64 - Chimayo Merchant

Whabiz D. Merchant, 64, a resident of Chimayo, NM passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011. She was a College Professor at South Suburban Community College in Chicago for over 22 years, as well as teaching in several other Colleges, including Northern New Mexico College. Whabiz had a BA from the University of Bombay, a MA from Western Michigan University (Anthropology), MA (History) from Northwestern University of Evanston, IL, MA & PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dinshaw and Dinaz Merchant. Whabiz is survived by her husband David G. Nether of Chimayo; brother, Hoshang D. Merchant of India; sisters: Maharoukh D. Merchant of India and Arnawaz D. Merchant of Australia. Cremation is being planned.
