Waldo Martinez, 72, of Chimayo, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 1, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Waldo was born in Chimayo, NM where he spent most of his life. He is known for his deep love for his family, his love of life and his strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isidoro and Adonelia Martinez; siblings Benita Martinez and Cecilia Martinez; his father and mother-in-law Elisaida and Patricio Baca.

Waldo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He married the love of his life, Rachel, in 1971, and together they raised three children, who were the center of his world. Waldo was a strong presence for his children, teaching them the values of hard work, integrity, compassion, kindness and shared with his family a lifetime of adventures. His love for sharing good meals and wonderful times with family is something he passed on to his children and grandchildren, instilling in them the meaning of love and loyalty for family.

Waldo is survived by his wife, Rachel; his children, Ella, Eli, and Elvin; son in law, Belarmino, daughter in law Rachel, and his grandchildren, Rachel Ann, Ryan, Christian, Sarah, Jacob, Angel, Cristian, Noah, Brandon and Jerome; as well as his great grandchildren, Bryan and Rosalie. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Margarito, Cornelio, Louisa, and Corina as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Waldo's indelible legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the many lives he touched through his unforgettable personality.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Victory Faith Church in Espanola, NM at 7:00 p.m. to celebrate Waldo’s life and his enduring impact on those around him.
