Vitalia M. Age - 77 - Rio Chama Martinez

Vitalia M. Martinez, known as Vita, 77, a resident of Rio Chama passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Vita was proud of her business, Vita’s Kitchen and proud of her catering business. She was especially known for the cakes she baked, whether wedding or otherwise. Vita raised her siblings from a young age and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arsenio A. Martinez; parents, Benjamin and Beatrice Garcia; brother, Benjamin Garcia, Jr.; sister, Rosalia Jaramillo. Vita is survived by her children: Carmen Perez and husband Tony of Maryland, Arsenio B. Martinez and wife Doris of Rio Chama, Arturo Antonio Martinez and wife Elizabeth of Rio Chama, Socorro Sanchez and husband Marvin of Rio Chama, Loretta Martinez and companion Robert Tapia of Santa Fe; grandchildren: Jennie and Anthony Perez, Christopher Sostenes and Derrick Martinez, Marcos and Victoria Sanchez, Joshua, Beatrice and Vitalia Archuleta; great-grandchildren: Shawn Arsenio Martinez, Estrella Martinez, Marcos Sanchez, Jr., Neveah Sanchez; brothers and sisters: Ramona Garcia of Medanales, Seledon Garcia and wife Alice of Barranco, Olivia Lopez and Jackie Suazo of Santa Fe, Freddie Garcia and wife Isabel of Albuquerque, Flora Martinez and husband George; numerous other loving relatives & friends. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 5:00 p.m. A second rosary will be recited on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Española. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Española with interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. with the following serving as pallbearers: Anthony Perez, Marcos Sanchez, Derrick Martinez, Joshua Archuleta, Vitalia Archuleta and Isaiah Garcia.
