VIRGINIA (JEANIE or GINA) K. CORDOVA, 63, a resident of La Villita, passed away at the Espanola hospital on Monday, November 18, 2013 following a long bout with an illness. Angels have lifted her fearless spirit to her Heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her father, Eluid Cordova; grandfather, Lucas Martinez; grandson, JJ Lucero; and father of her sons, Julian Lucero. Gina was a very independent, happy, and giving soul, in spite of all her pain. She had a great sense of humor and would make people laugh. She made the best tortillas on the planet. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She loved the Lord with all her heart and is now resting in His presence. Her favorite saying was “No Te Apures Para Que Dures”. Gina was employed for approximately 40 years at Los Alamos Medical Center and The Zia Company (KSL) where she retired from. Ms. Cordova is survived by her mother, Della Cordova; two sons, Gino Lucero and wife Angela, and Jimmy Lucero and companion Martha Padilla; sister, Cora Montoya; brothers, Ted Cordova (Margie) and Ernie Cordova (Rose); family friend who was like a brother, Jimmy Valdez; grandchildren, Vicente, Destiny and Jacob Lucero, and many other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Victory Faith Church in Española. The family would appreciate donations be sent to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses. The family would like to thank her special nieces and nephews who surrounded her passing during her final hours at the hospital.
