Virginia Garcia

Our beloved Mother Virginia Garcia, 87, of El Guache, NM, gained her wings on August 23, 2024, surrounded by her family. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Delfin Garcia; daughter Dorene Mondragon; son Richard Garcia; parents Juan & Raquel Salazar; in-laws Pedro & Beroniz Garcia; granddaughters Reina Martinez, Crystal Maestas; grandson Fabian Velarde; sisters Lydia, Bernie, Mary, Aurelia; brother Willie and like a sister Mary Salazar; and son-in-law Alex Mondragon. 

She is survived by her son Dale Garcia (Sonia), daughters Sandra (Larry), Karen, Cathy (Tony), Diane (Jackie), daughter-in-law Cindy Garcia, son-in-law Robert Romero, her fur baby Binky, 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Our Mother/Grandma was a very loving, caring person with a big heart. Her family was her world. She was always very supportive in caring for her grandchildren so her children could work, get an education and succeed in life. She will always be remembered for her wonderful cooking. Tortillas, sweet rice, and pastelitos were always the best. Her fur baby/companion Binky was always by her side, he meant the world to her. Her devotion as our mother and the love she gave will deeply be missed and never forgotten.

We are sincerely grateful for the many years of service from Ideal Home Care; for her caregivers, Carolina Madrid and Angie Salazar; Ambercare Homecare; and the Rust Medical Center Staff in Rio Rancho. 

A Public Viewing will be Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 5:00 pm, with Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola,NM. 

Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 11:00 am at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez, NM.

Pallbearers are Christopher Garcia, Nicholas Garcia, Peter Velarde, Eric Martinez, Orlando Garcia, Levi Gallegos, Andrew Martinez and Leo Maestas.

Honorary Pallbearers are all of her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren.
