Virginia Lee

d. November 16, 2015

Virginia Dillon Lee, 82, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015.   Her spirit is now with her deceased spouse, James Oliver Lee who died on November 24, 1990. She is survived  by: her sister, Dorothy O’Hara, and her five daughters; Rosemary Rezendes and spouse, Dee Keoski, spouse and two children, Virginia Lee Bateman, spouse and four children, Nora Lee and spouse, Megan Lee Ito, resident of Los Alamos, her spouse and two children.

Virginia Lee was born in New York, New York. She resided in Los Alamos since 2008. She lived in several places; born and raised in Bronx, New York,  and resided in Montclair, New Jersey,  Old Saybrook and Middletown, CT, Bainbridge Island, Washington, Orange and La Jolla, CA. She always considered herself a New Yorker as recognized by her accent.  Her intelligence, passion for learning and teaching, sense of humor, and Irish gift of gab will sorely be missed. Whenever we see a crossword puzzle, murder mystery, Coffee Haagen Dazs ice cream, or PBS Masterpiece Theater among many other things, we will think of her.

As her roots are from back east, we plan to have a special celebration of life with family and friends this summer in Connecticut and New York City. A specific date will be announced at a later time.

Immediately there will be a celebration of life for her this Friday, November 20, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Aspen Ridge in Los Alamos, 1010 Sombrillo Court, Los Alamos, NM 87544. There will be light refreshments. The community is welcome to come and pay respects.

Our mother suffered from Alzheimer’s for several years. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate any donations in her name to those who cared for our mom these past years, the staff at Los Alamos Retirement Community, Employee Holiday Fund. If people prefer they can also donate to alz.org which provides resources for curing Alzheimer’s.

We appreciate the outpouring of love and support our family has received. She will live in our hearts forever. The Family of Virginia Dillon Lee has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. 505-747-7477 – www.devargasfuneral.com
