VIRGINIA J. VIGIL, 83, a wife, mother, grandmother and friend of many, and a resident of La Mesilla passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. She was loyal, faithful, loving, accepting, devoted and more, and whom we loved dearly. Virginia was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gregorio and Josefita Lovato; parents, Fruitoso and Antonia Valerio; brother, Max Valerio; mother-in-law, Noberta Vigil; father-in-law, Adelaido Vigil; brothers-in-law, Dennie Martinez, Peter and Carol Vigil. She loved to cook, bake, sew, needle work and she enjoyed doing arts and crafts. She loved listening to music, and loved dancing and singing. She had an Associates (AA) with education, and was employed in the past years with Valdez Accounting, Caskey’s Auto Parts, Jemez Mountain Electric Co-op, Las Vegas Workforce Training, Northern New Mexico College, NM State Department of Labor, Los Alamos National Laboratory and at the Pojoaque Pueblo. She will be missed dearly. Virginia is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gilbert R. Vigil; children, Toby Vigil, Stephanie A. Vigil-Roybal, Troy Vigil; grandchildren, Rachel B. and Haley M. Roybal; brothers and sisters, Molly Martinez, Frances Salazar, Pat Valerio and wife Frances, Bernie Archuleta and companion, Nobert Fernandez, Flora, Elvira Ogard and husband Al, Ralph Vigil and wife Gloria, Rudy Vigil and wife Galina, Rita Caccamise and husband Don, and Pablo Vigil and wife Janie and many other relatives and friends. Special thanks to the nurses and caregiver over the past year for the special care given to Virginia during this difficult time. Public visitation will begin on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española.
