Viola Velarde

Viola Elaine Velarde, 65, a resident of Bernalillo, formerly of Truches, went to be with our Lord on Monday, September 19, 2016 following a lengthy illness. Viola was preceded in death by her father, Flavio Romero; siblings; Candie and Timoteo Romero; nephew, Adrian Romero; grandparents, Augustin and Eliaisa T. Romero and William and Predicanda Panas all of Truchas; in-laws, Henry and Eufelia Velarde; brothers-in law, Donald, Toby and Henry all of Ojo Sarco; sister-in-law, Erlinda and husband Floyd Tafoya of Ojo Sarco; uncle, Amavil and wife Priscilla Romero of Utah, Eli and Ernestina Lopez, Melecio and Andreita Panas, Albert and Cordelia Cordova; a very special cousin, Albert “Bet Cordova all of Truchas; uncle, Alberto Rodriguez originally from Truchas. May their souls rest in peace. Viola was a loving spirit whose love of family was always evident, always first to offer a helping hand or shoulder to anyone in need, she was a very loving, caring person who loved unconditionally. Viola liked taking care of her family, cooking, and making tortillas. Viola loved spending time her grandchildren and visiting her mom, Jennie Romero.  Her smile and kind generous heart will be missed so much. Her passing leaves a tremendous void in our hearts.  Mrs. Velarde is survived by her husband of 46 yrs, Joe Velarde; three beautiful devoted children, Clarissa Velarde (companion Randy) of Rio Rancho, Joey (Clarissa Y. Velarde) of Albuquerque, Jeremy (companion Rose) of Bernalillo; mother, Jennie Romero lifelong resident of Truchas; brothers, Clorindo (Yolanda), Gilbert (Barbara), Billy Romero, and Joe Romero (Cecilia); sisters, Sandra Jean Rodriguez (Roger), Stella Valdez (Leroy), Jackie Romero (Larry); sisters-in-law, Jennie Romero and Lorraine Velarde of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Clovis Velarde (Nora) of Bernalillo. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Truchas, with a burial to follow at Los Llanitos Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers, Clorindo Romero, Toby Velarde, Gilbert Romero, Robert Romero, Billy Romero, Gabriel Salas, Joe Romero, and Clorindo Romero, Jr. Honorary pallbearer named are, Amanda Velarde, Savanah Velarde- Chavez Danielle Lucero, Claudia Velarde, Jerriah Velarde, Danikka Velarde, God-son, Johnathan Lopez, and Felix Rodriguez.
