Viola Tapia

Viola M. Tapia, 78, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 surrounded by her beloved family. Viola was preceded in death by her loving husband, Pedro Jesus Tapia; son, Peter John Tapia; parents, Emerenciano and Sofia Lujan; and siblings, Jim Lujan and Mabel Rivera. Viola was a nurse at the original St. Vincent’s Hospital and also at several nursing home facilities within Santa Fe. Viola was a natural caregiver. She was kind, generous, humble, loving and the best wife, mother and grandmother. Viola’s husband Pedro passed away 11 months and 13 days prior to her own passing, a true gesture of the love they shared. They are now able to reunite in heaven and again spend the Christmas season with one another. Viola was the light of her entire family. She was always joyful, never had any complaints and always found the silver lining in all things. She will be dearly missed. Viola is survived by her loving sons, Patrick J. Tapia (Anita) and Paul J. Tapia and companion Jill; grandchildren, Patrick, Sofia, Jovonne, Alissa and Matthew; sister, Cecilia Lynch; and good friend and sister-in-law, Mida Sanchez. Special thanks to Patrick and Anita Tapia, Paul Tapia and Jill, and grandchildren, Patrick, Sofia, Jovonne and Alissa for the care and compassion they provided Viola up to her passing. Much thanks to Jerry Lynch and wife Mary-Ann, Marcos Tapia, Mida Sanchez, Suki Gonzales and Maria Elena Fava who regularly called and checked on Viola’s wellbeing, as it meant the world to her. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Santa Fe. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Santa Fe. Burial will take place at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family of Viola M. Tapia has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
