Vincent - Age 27 - Velarde Salazar

Vincent Ray Salazar, age 27, a resident of Velarde, passed away on Monday, October 28th, 2013. Vincent was preceded in death by his grandfather, Julian “Noochie” Lujan; aunt, Crystal Hunt and cousin Joseph Rendon. Vincent attended McCurdy and graduated in 2004. He was an accomplished baseball and football player. He loved hunting, fishing and gardening. Vincent was a funeral specialist at DeVargas Funeral Home for a number of years – where he assisted many families in their time of need. Families loved him and appreciated him. He was a much loved member of the DeVargas Funeral Home team. Vincent had a big heart and was an awesome son, brother, grandson, boyfriend and friend to many. Vincent is survived by his parents, David and Brenda Salazar; companion, Megan Martinez; brothers, Adrian and Paul Salazar; god parents, Raymundo and Kathy Gutierrez; grandparents, Raymond and Evila Salazar, Dolores Sly and Leo and Delia Hunt; aunts, Judi and Ron Sandoval, Jessica Hunt and Monica and Marcos Armijo; nephews, Ottoniel and Mario; cousins, Samantha and Israel Lopez, Ricoh Sandoval, Brandon and Mariah Hunt, Javier Vigil, Matthew Armijo, Alexandra Sandoval and Azlyanna Hunt, as well as numerous other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 5:30p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to follow at 7:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 9:00a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde, with burial to follow at the Velarde Catholic Cemetery. Assisting the family as pallbearers will be Ricoh Sandoval, Matthew Armijo, Michael Salazar, Emiel Baumgartner, Vince Vigil and Johnny Medrano. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Hunt, Javier Vigil, Freddie Chavez, Little Joe Rendon, Larry Lucero, Robert Montoya, Mike Martinez, Rocky Olsen, Rosie Bryan and Ashten Salazar.
