Victor Atencio

Victor Atencio, 35, a resident of Chamisal, passed away from a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 22, 2020. He is proceeded in death her by his grandfather’s Esequiel Romero and Victor B.  Atencio, Aunts Aileen Romero, Victoria Atencio, Deborah Atencio, and a great dear aunt Carolina Rodriguez, Cousin Sean Velarde.

Victor joined the U.S. Army reserve at the age of 17. He graduated from Peñasco High School in May 2003, upon completion of High School, he attended AIT training in Fort Sill, OK. Shortly after in December 2003 he was deployed to Iraq and served an 18 month tour.

Victor was a man of God with a very strong faith. He enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life. Anyone who knew him was bound to laugh, for he was always joking. He had a good heart. His children were his everything to him! He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carving, art, cooking, participating in family gatherings, but most of all PROVING HIS POINT!

He is survived by his parents Edwin and Dolores Atencio, Daughter Sierra Atencio, Son Kaileb Atencio, Mother of his children Amy Lopez,  Sister Jessica Abeyta, Brother Guillermo Atencio and wife Heather, Nephews Daniel Abeyta, D’Angelo Abeyta, Lorenzo Atencio, Nieces Deanna Abeyta, Alyssa Atencio, Daylieen Abeyta, Katalina Atencio, Zekayla Duran. Maternal grandmother Orlinda Romero, paternal grandmother Olivama Atencio. His Aunts Rachel Valdez, Rosemary Fernandez(George), Olivia Aguilar, Della Wahl(Bob), Noami Atencio (Jhon), Very close Prim Jason Rodriguez, a dear friend Andrea Martinez, and other close family and friends, there are too many to mention, but not forgotten! He loved so many people and was loved by so many people!

Public visitation will begin at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 pm with a limit of 75 people allowed in the chapel. Mass of Christian Burial; will be celebrated on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 11:00 am at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco with a burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 pm. 25 people are allowed at the cemetery.

Serving the family as pallbearers are Daniel Abeyta, Jason Rodriguez, Andrea Velarde, Jonathon Fernandez, Anthony Rodriquez, Mark Lopez. Honorary Pallbearers are God Children, Lorenzo (LoLo) Atencio and Daylieen Abeyta.
