VICTOR SALAZAR, 76, of Tierra Amarilla passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. He was born on February 5, 1934 in Las Nutrias, New Mexico to Manuel Sabino and Carlota Ulibarri-Salazar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sabine and Carlota Salazar; sisters, Rufina Salazar, Chon Goodnight, Aleja Salazar and Margaret (Maya) Garcia; in-laws, Benjamin and Maria Placida Garcia; sister-in-law, Sarita and Jose Leyba. Victor retired from the New Mexico Department of Transportation after 22 years of service. He was a lifelong rancher with his brother Max and sons. Along with ranching he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Mr. Salazar is survived by his wife of 52 years, Agripina Salazar of Tierra Amarilla; children, Debbie Manzanares and husband Carlos of La Puente, Victor Salazar and wife Charmaine of Tierra Amarilla, Sabino Salazar and wife Juanita of Canjilon, Lester Salazar and wife Donna, Gary Salazar, Dawn Salazar and companion Joseph Quintana all of Tierra Amarilla, brothers, Max Salazar and wife Adela of Chama, Antonio Salazar and wife Esperanza of Ogden, UT, sister; Helena Maestas and husband Gus of Clearfield UT, sister-in-law, Grace Baker and husband James of Ranchitos, and brother-in-law, Augustine Garcia and wife Julia of Española; special nephews: Gilbert Garcia and wife Shawna of Chama and Gilbert Salazar and wife Priscilla of Tierra Amarilla; grandchildren, Juan Jose Manzanares and wife Jessica of La Madera, Carl and Michael Manzanares, Charlotte, Bonnie, Victoriana Salazar, Sabrina, Andres, and Sierra Salazar, John, Max and Mandy Salazar, Aurora Hernandez, Matricia and Makeely Garcia, great-grand children; Antonio and Maryssa Manzanares, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church in Los Ojos. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santo Niño Catholic Church in Tierra Amarilla. Burial will follow at the Los Ojos Cemetery.
