Vickie Helen Chaparro, age 66, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015, at her home in Golden Colorado. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993, through strong will and determination she pursued a valiant fight which finally took her on this date. She was born on April 26, 1949 in Ojo Caliente, New Mexico. Moved to California at the age of 18 where she worked for several years at Pacific Bell Telephone Company. In 1991 she moved to Golden Colorado, and was employed by the United States Post Office finally retiring in 2012.
Vickie enjoyed shopping, gardening and gambling at Central City, her favorite place.
She is survived by ex-husband Efren Chaparro, husband for 33 years, three daughters Veronica Schepker, Linda Snyder and Yolanda Hamilton and only son, Michael Chaparro. Grandchildren Joshua & Alyssa Schepker, Jacob, Kaitlyn, and Elizabeth Hamilton and Cameron Snyder.
The family would like to thank everyone for all of their prayers and well wishes. Public visitation will begin on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente. Burial to follow at the Servilleta Cemetery.
