VICENTE MANUEL SANCHEZ , 80, died peacefully on January 15, 2018 surrounded by loving family members. He was born December 16, 1937 in Santa Nino. After service in the Army National Guard, he spent most of his adult life in construction work. He was a proud man who loved God very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josefa and Matias Sanchez; sisters, Crestina Duran and Lorenza (Laura) Sanchez Baros and a brother, Blas Sanchez. He is survived by his longtime companion, Jeanny Hargrove (Las Vegas, NV), daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Frank Padilla (Hernandez), daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Jack Hiatt (Santa Fe), and grandchildren, Jason Padilla (Joanie), Andrew Padilla (Hignia), Teresa Lopez (Andrew), Linda Vigil (Dillon), Anna Vigil Fox (Justin), Sara Vigil (Mario) and 13 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Kasey, Lila, Jewel, Mateo, Jayze, Jericho, AJ, Abram, Kylee, Emily, Jasmine and Abigail. In addition, he is survived by nieces, Celina Duran (Santo Nino), Pauline Geiger (Santa Fe), Barbara Giron (Edgewood), Freida Duran (Las Vegas NV), Dyna Padilla (Hernandez), Claudette Brown (Sombrillo), Virginia Maestas (Sombrillo), Mary Frances Sanchez (Albuquerque) and nephews, George Duran (Abiquiu), Jesse Duran (Fairview), Joe Duran (Albuquerque), Dennis Duran (Rio Ojo), and Gilbert Duran (Santo Nino). Public visitation will begin on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Andrew Padilla, Justin Fox, Dennis Duran, Gilbert Duran, Armando Sanchez and Samuel Maestas. Honorary pallbearers are, Jason Padilla and Ethan Naranjo. Our family is very grateful to all the caregivers that helped Vicente on these final days of his journey including Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care, Pacifica Senior Living and all the professionals. Your loving care and concern has been an inspiration to all of us. The family of Vicente Manuel Sanchez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
