Veronica Rose Martinez, 17, a resident of Chili, NM passed away from an automobile accident on Thursday, April 12, 2012. Veronica was family oriented and enjoyed spending time with her nephews: Carlos and Angelo and niece Denisha. She was shy and somewhat of a private individual. Veronica loved cooking for her family. One of her favorite dishes she enjoyed preparing and was very delicious was “Shrimp Alfredo.” She enjoyed meeting new people & was a great conversationalist. She loved giving her siblings Carrilla! Veronica looked forward to going on vacations. She liked California, and other places she visited. One of Veronica’s favorite past-times was listening to her favorite group “NB RIDERS.” She loved going to concerts. Veronica was strong in her culture & enjoyed the Spanish music. She will be dearly missed. R.I.P. Veronica. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Alvaro Martinez; aunt, Josie Martinez; Paternal great-grandmother, Rose Garcia; uncle, Horace Manzanares. Veronica is survived by her mother, Rose Martinez and companion Medardo Cordova of Truchas, NM; father, Martin Martinez and companion Lucille Cordova of Chamita, NM; sister, Monica Martinez of Chamita; brother, Martin Martinez of Chamita; paternal grandmother, Doloritas Martinez of Chamita; maternal grandparents, Horacio and Beatrice Manzanares of Medanales; niece, Denisha Rodriguez of Chamita; nephews: Carlos Ray Martinez and Angelo Atencio of Chamita; special friend, Luis “Mando” Molina of Española; numerous other loving cousins, relatives & friends. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with burial to follow at San Pedro Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: April Martinez, Victor Valdez, Jr., Joseph and David Manzanares and Nadine and Rudy Martinez; honorary pallbearers: Carlos Martinez, Denisha Rodriguez, Angelo Atencio and Luis “Mando” Molina.
