Verna Carrillo, 76, a resident of Chama passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012. She was a kind loving compassionate & caring person, a beautiful wife who loved the Lord with all her heart. She remembered everyone’s birthdays. Verna was a loving wife & mother and was close to all her grandchildren. She could cook a gourmet meal out of anything. She was a lifelong Catholic; she worked the church Bingo and was involved in St. Vincent de Paul. She will be missed by all who knew her. Verna was preceded in death by her sisters: Cecilia Rivas and Nellie Pacheco; brother, Manuel Pacheco; parents, Jose & Eufemina Pacheco; 2 infant children, Lawrence Jr. and Raymond Carrillo. Verna is survived by her husband, Lawrence Carrillo; daughter, Julia Martinez and husband Jimmy of Chama; sons: Frankie Carrillo and wife Renee of Farmington, Ronnie Carrillo of Monero and Donnie Carrillo and wife Maxine of Chama; 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters: Dorothy Lalonde of Santa Fe, Esther Luman of Texas, Ramona Mares of Lumberton, Mary Ann Wright of Albuquerque, Joanne Kearney of Florida; brothers: Fidelio Pacheco of Farmington, Ruben Pacheco of Chama, Robert Pacheco of Chama, Abby Pacheco of Las Vegas, NV and Max Pacheco of Chama. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama with burial to follow at the family ranch in Monero with the following serving as pallbearers: Matthew Martinez, Dominic, Ronald Jr., Morris, Frankie Jr. and Donald Jr. Carrillo; honorary pallbearers: Timothy Maestas, Tommy Casados and Joshua Aguilar.
