Valerie Lopez Trujillo , 50, a resident of Española, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018. She is preceded in death by her mother, Carolina Lopez and brothers, Leroy and Jimmy Lopez. Valerie is survived by her father, Horacio Lopez; son, Dillon Trujillo; sisters, Jackie Martinez, Ruth Lopez, Peggy Lopez, Tracy Lujan and brother, David Lopez. "Out of the 7 billion souls out there, my mom's was so special and my favorite. If anyone knew my mom, they knew that talking with my mom for minutes would definitely turn into hours, and it would be full of love and laughter. My mom was one of the strongest women I had in my life. My mom and I shared a special bond together because we overcame so much adversity, and she's the person who taught me how to be resilient. She ultimately shaped me into the loving, unique, and energetic human I am today. As a parent and friend, my mom had an extraordinary ability to make me feel stronger and more confident in my identity, providing me with independence and mental toughness, which has been a valuable asset in so many ways of my life. I truly owe everything to her. She will continue to shine through our hearts and live through our smiles. I am and will always be proud to call myself the son of Valerie Lopez-Trujillo." Services are pending at this time and will be announced as soon as they become available.
