URSULITA “TITA” C. VIGIL, 97, a long time resident of Gallina, passed away peacefully from a sudden illness on Saturday, October 26, 2013 with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonardo and Raquel Chavez; husband, Margarito Vigil; daughter, Rachel Vigil; sister, Victoria Garcia, and brother, Fred Chavez. Ursulita was born on Sept 25, 1916 in Gallina. Tita was a very loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Mrs. Vigil is survived by her son, Leonard Chavez and wife Elvira of Farmington; daughter, Sarah Montoya and husband Arturo of Española and Cruzita Segura and husband Amadeo of Farmington; sisters, Dora Gonzales of Santa Fe, Teresina Martinez of Española and Mary Arellano of Gallina; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. and a wake to follow. A rosary will be recited on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina. Burial to follow at the Capulin Catholic Cemetery in Gallina with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Matthew Montoya, Joey Montoya, Ray Chavez, Allen Hawbecker, Joe Vigil, and Reggie Maez. Honorary pallbearers will be all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family of Ursulita “Tita” C.
