Tranquilino “Tranky” Vigil, a resident of Nambe, a loving, compassionate brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015 of natural causes at the age of 89. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII and was honorably discharged to return home and help his family. His passions included fishing, hunting, gardening, horseback riding and visiting friends; with family placed above all. He was well known for his laughter, lending hand, and bringing people together; leaving us all with fond memories and better off for having him in our lives. He shared his love of life with everyone he met and will be sadly missed by all. Tranquilino is preceded in death by his parents Ramon and Frances Vigil, longtime companion Albinita Martinez, brothers Juan, Victoriano, and Joe Vigil, sisters Fina Marinez and Alice, children Ramos and Frances Vigil, as well as two infant daughters. He is survived by his companion Theresa Martinez; sister, Petrita Romero, step-son Robert Tapia; grandchildren, Raymond and wife Teresa Vigil of Palm Bay Florida, Renee and husband Rick Moore of Nambe, Brian and wife Valerie Vigil of Lompoc California, Tanesha Vigil and companion Mario Lords of Ft Worth Texas, Tamarra Vigil of Ft Worth Texas, Asjha Vigil-Martinez of Nambe, ten great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends far too vast to mention individually, but just as loved. As well as his beloved Chihuahua “Honey”.
Public visitation will begin on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe, with a burial to follow at the Nambe Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial service at the Pojoaque Parish hall. Serving the family as pallbearers Patrick, Adam and Kyle Moore, Leroy “Kool-Aid” Alderete, Andres Garcia and Kenny Vigil, honorary pallbearers Ben Romero, Juanita “Jane” Lopez, Phillip Vigil, Joseph Salazar, Charlie and Nick Herrera, and Manuel Arevalo.
