Tony Herrera

Tony S. Herrera, 52, originally from Truchas, NM, passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his parents Pantaleon and Sabinita Herrera; fiancé of 7 years Anita Gonzales; siblings Johnny, Edna, James, Ruby, Linda, Mary and Jimmy Herrera; nephews Anthony and Marvin Martinez, Alex Romero and James Cordova; Uncle Edwardo Trujillo.

Tony is survived by his sister Shirley Reynosa, daughter Alicia Herrera (Emmanuel), son Anthony Flores (Alexis), grandkids Makayla, Isaiah, Lilly, Davion, Liam and Kaydance; stepfather Emilio Orozco; close uncle Fred Herrera (Judy); close nephews Jimmy (Susana), Davey and Pantaleon; close nieces Concha, Vanessa and Lexi Herrera; close cousin Larry Sr. (Margie) and God-daughter Geraldine Romero, 29 nieces and nephews and many family and friends.

Tony was born to Pantaleon and Sabinita Herrera on May 28, 1970.  He was the baby of the family.  Tony had a passion for horses which led him to become a racehorse trainer.  He loved going hunting, horse back riding, fishing and camping, especially going to the Truchas Peaks.  He loved being surrounded by his kids, grandkids, sister, nieces, and nephew daily. 

Tony had such a big heart, and he would always lend a helping hand for those in need.  He touched so many hearts and he will be missed dearly by many.

A Public Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 5:00 pm with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, March 3, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, NM.  Burial will take place later.  

Serving as Pallbearers Jimmy, Davey, Pantaleon, Joe, Larry Sr., and Larry Jr. 

Honorary Pallbearers are his grandchildren Vanessa, Lexi and Geraldine.
