Tomasita Martinez

The family of Tomasita L. Martinez (Toma) of La Villita, NM, is saddened to announce her passing on Saturday, February 01, 2025, at the age of 45 years due to a lengthy illness. 

Tomasita was a caregiver for a great part of her life working in Nursing Homes and Home Health Care. Tomasita enjoyed the outdoors, riding horses, corralling cows, taking a ride and listening to music. She was a gentle and kind soul, never judgmental of anything or anyone. 

Tomasita was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart Greg Lopez, Father Tony C. Martinez and stepmother Connie Vigil, paternal grandparents Eduardo and Luisita Martinez, maternal grandparents Joe and Luisa Padilla and a brother Tony Martinez. 

She is survived by her children Samantha and Moritz Lopez, Tessa Sanchez and Tessa’s father Elmer Sanchez Sr., grandson Jeremiah Lopez. Mother Mary [Ted] Romero, sister’s Janice Romero, Jennifer [Heath] Law, Higinia [Andrew] Padilla, and Patricia Romero. Brother Rubel Romero. Close friends Melody Lopez, Nicole Hernandez, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory in Espanola, NM.
