TITO A. GARCIA, 81, a lifelong resident of Tierra Amarilla, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anita Garcia; brothers, Orlando and Isaac. Mr. Garcia was born and raised in Tierra Amarilla and was a Veteran of the US Army Reserves. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Highlands University in 1956. He married Angie Montano in 1959 and they both raised 6 children. He earned his Masters Degree in Mathematics and Science from New Mexico Tech. in Socorro in 1972. Mr. Garcia was an Educator and retired from the Chama Valley Schools after 32 years of Service. Following his retirement he worked as a road surveyor for 10 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening and was also an accomplished carpenter. He loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and looked forward to their visits to pass on his wealth of knowledge. He was a well respected member of the Chama Valley c ommunities. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. Tito is survived by his wife of 56 years, Angie Garcia of Tierra Amarilla; children, Denise G. Terrazas, Dennis Garcia (Eileen), Samuel Garcia (Geneva), Susan Martinez, (Joseph), Arleen Lopez (Isaias), and Andres Garcia (Melissa); 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Grace Valdez, Virginia (Ginny) Hernandez, Maria de la Luz Smith, and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Rosary will be recited on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Santo Nino Catholic Church in Tierra Amarilla, with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at the Los Ojos Cemetery The family of Tito A.
