Timothy Gilbert - age 48 - Abiquiu Martinez

TIMOTHY GILBERT MARTINEZ, 48, beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 2, 2014 following a short illness. He spent 29 years as a Teamster/Heavy Equipment Operator for the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Tim was the type of person that would become friends with people almost instantly. He loved the outdoors especially caring for his farm animals, hunting and working on the family garden. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Tim was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Martinez; grandparents, Pedro and Sinforoza Abeyta and Cruz and Porfiria Martinez; father-in-law, Avenicio J. Fernandez; grandparents-in-law, Atanacio and Bernadita (Bernie) Fernandez and Norberto and Aurora Martinez. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Lisa Martinez; two sons, Gilbert A. Martinez and Bryan A. Martinez; mother, Molly Martinez; sisters, Brenda Martinez (Mike), Darlene Martinez (Steve), Arlene Martinez (Felix) and Anita Martinez Tafoya (Richard); mother-in-law, Oralia Fernandez; brothers-in-law; Eric Fernandez (Veronica), Avenicio (Ben) Fernandez, Tony Fernandez (Paula), Joey Fernandez (Angel), sisters-in-law; Valerie Fernandez and Datra Garcia (Joe) as well as several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Santo Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu, with a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Abiquiu Catholic Cemetery, with the following serving as honorary pallbearers are, Gilbert Martinez, Gerald Sandoval, Joey Lopez, Andrew Serrano and Stevie Lopez. The family of Timothy Gilbert Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
