Thomas Orlando Maestas, age 53, a resident of Espanola, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 18, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, Orlando V. Maestas; son, Nicolas Maestas; mother of his son, Karen K. Chavez; beloved nephew, Kevin D. Martinez; paternal grandparents, Vianes and Olivama Maestas; maternal grandparents, Concepcion and Esther Martinez; as well as many uncles and aunts. Thomas loved to fish, camp, going for wood, listen to KDCE Radio, and especially loved to dance. Thomas is survived by his mother, Bertha Maestas of Fairview; brother, David and wife Cindy Maestas of Los Luceros; sisters, Marcia and husband Steve L. Martinez of El Duende and Jennifer Maestas of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, Camilla, Michaela, Kathryn, SaraMaria Maestas; nephews, Angelo Maestas and Joey Cross; aunts, Theresa and Henry Romero of La Puebla, Lorraine Abeyta of La Puebla, Dora Garcia of Guachupange, Eneda and Eddie Sanchez of Hernandez, Lilly Martinez of Arroyo Seco, Juanita and Alex Sisneros of Chamita; uncles, Jose C. and Viola Martinez of Santa Fe, Gilbert Martinez of El Paso, TX., Tony Vigil of Albuquerque, Senator Richard Martinez of Espanola; special cousins, Ted Martinez and Feliciana Martinez; and special friend, Clarissa Olivas; as well as numerous other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanñola with a burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
