After two years, he took a hiatus in 1964 to serve his country as a United States Air Force pilot. Tom resumed his education in 1968 at the University of Missouri at Rolla, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering. In the summer of 1983, he was offered a position at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). That fall, he relocated his family to the beautiful mountain town of Los Alamos, New Mexico. (Tom always loved living in these mountains.) During his twenty three year career with the LANL, Tom served as a Nuclear Engineer, Research Scientist, Intelligence Analyst and more. Tom retired in 2006 to follow his dreams with Fran and family; partake in community service; be a faithful loving member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where he was a member of the “Adoration” family and an Extraordinary Minister. He loved serving the Lord. Some of the hobbies he enjoyed were: Ham Radio (50 years plus), flying, rebuilding his plane, computers, wood working, shooting, and hiking in Pajarito Acres with his dog, Necha.\r\nTom was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Stanley Suchocki; sister, Catherine (Suchocki) Plecha; brother-in-law, Jim Plecha; nephews, Kenneth, Mark, and Robert Plecha.\r\nTom is survived by his wife, Fran; son, Tom and his wife Claudine (Jaramillo), grandchildren, Karolek, Andrew, Emelise, and Isabella; son, Scott Suchocki and son, Gregory and his wife Janice Bequette-Suchocki; granddaughter, Selenah and brother, David Suchocki.\r\nPublic visitation will begin on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. also at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos.
