Theresa M. - Age 82 Chavez

Theresa M. Chavez – Age 82 a resident of Gallina passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011. Theresa was born to Regino and Marcelina Sanchez on November 10, 1928 in Chama, Colorado and attended schools in the San Luis Valley. She married Guillermo Chavez on January 5, 1945 and they made their home and raised their family in Gallina. Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, Guillermo Chavez; her parents: Regino and Marcelina Sanchez; sisters: Rose Chavez, Rebecca Roy and Maggie Sanchez; brother, Roberto Sanchez; her granddaughter, Celina Trujillo. Theresa M. Chavez worked for many years as a custodian in the Gallina Schools and was also a foster grandmother who was dearly loved by all her students. Theresa M. Chavez is survived by her daughter, Yolanda T. Escobedo of Gallina; son, Henry Chavez and wife Sandra of Pueblo, Colorado; her grandchildren: Gina Chacon of Cuba, NM, Elena Trujillo of Gallina, Pauline Mata and Anna Trujillo both of Española, Hope Villanueva, Tracy, Bill, Audrey, April and Christina Chavez of Pueblo Colorado; many great grandchildren too numerous to mention; sister, Loyola Molina and husband John of Cuba, Betty Rivera and husband Jess of El Paso, Bertha Sandoval of Pueblo; several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina. Burial will follow at the Gallina Catholic Cemetery. The family of Teresa Chavez has entrusted the care of their beloved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. 505-747-7477
