Our beloved mother and grandmother, Teresita Maria Tafoya of El Rancho born on August 25, 1917 went home to our Lord on April 9, 2011. Teresita lived a long, fruitful life, and was blessed to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren residing next to her. She loved and was very compassionate about her family; she took care of all of her grandchildren, and loved to spoil them. From the spring through the fall months, Teresita could be found in her garden irrigating ankle deep in mud, or harvesting vegetables to share with her family; she also loved to bake, and drop a coin or two at the casinos. Teresita had a zest for life by traveling the world such as Rome, Hawaii, Mexico, and all over the United States. Teresita was very spiritual and prayed daily. She was a lifelong parishioner of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe del Valle de Pojoaque. She touched many hearts in the Pojoaque valley and at her final stay at the Espanola Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. \r\nTeresita was preceded in death by her parents: Cressenciano and Guadalupe Roybal; Husbands: Ramon Sandoval and Juan Abelino Tafoya; Sister, Rosella Ortiz; brothers: Antonio Roybal and Medardo Roybal. Teresita is survived by her brother, Eberto Roybal; sisters: Esther Vigil and Sinfie Ortiz and husband Toby; Sons: Levi Sandoval and wife Patsy of El Rancho, Gene Sandoval and wife Helen of El Rancho, and Elda Childers and husband Gary Michael of El Rancho. Teresita had 10 grandchildren: Michelle Duran (Bruce) of El Rancho, Gary Childers II (Cindi) of Jacksonville, FL, Gina Lujan of El Rancho, Denise Rivera (Matthew) of El Rancho ,Raymond Sandoval (Sarah) of El Rancho, Terrie Call of Albuquerque, Cresenciano “Chano” Sandoval of El Rancho, Troy Childers (Cindy) of Santa Fe, Felicia Sandoval of El Rancho and Kristie Sandoval (James) of Albuquerque; 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Sister-in-law, Floriana Wahl of California, Bertha Madrigil of Provo Utah, and Cordelia Cullun of California; Godchildren: Margie Salazar, Silviano Garcia, Terrie Call, Rosanna Vigil, Mary Ester Medina and Gina Lujan; and numerous other relatives and friends. \r\nA rosary will be recited on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque with the Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers are Raymond Sandoval, Cresensiano Sandoval, James Perea, Chris Duran, Gary Childers, and Troy Childers. Honorary pallbearers are: Stephanie Brenan, Casandra Duran, Josh Duran, Gabriel Duran, Gary Michael Childers III, Elliott Childers, Branden Call, Jade Call, Estevan Rivera, Miranda Sandoval, Ray Sandoval, Dominic Anaya y Sandoval, Chloe Brenan, Gabriel Childers, Toby Perea, Santiago Rivera and Geraldine Ortiz.\r\nThe family would like to thank the staff at the Española Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Vista Care Hospice, Presbyterian Hospital and Dr. Hassamer and Dr. Wagner, and anyone who ever took care of Teresita at some point in her life.\r\nThe family of Teresita Maria Tafoya has entrusted the care of their beloved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
