Teresita Salazar, 83, a resident of Chamita, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 11, 2012. She passed away with her loving family by her side. Teresita was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Salazar; parents, Antonio and Manuelita Martinez; sons, Waldo Salazar and wife Elsie, Myron Salazar, and infant daughter, Lorena Salazar; granddaughter, Krisanne Salazar; brothers and sisters, Sofia Martinez and husband Max, Elizaido Martinez, Juan Martinez and wife Stella, Odilia Montoya and husband Ben, Isabel Guillen and husband Vicente, and Maria Maes and husband Manuel; parents-in-law, Alfredo M. and Margarita Salazar, stepmother-in-law, Antonia M. Salazar; brothers-in-law: Alfredo “Chero” Salazar, Julian Salazar and wife Mary, and Juan Eledo Garcia; sister-in-law, Nativdad Roybal and husband Antonio “Tony”. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and was involved in many church activities. Teresita was the Choir director of the Tri-Lingual Choir of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh and was a member of La Sagrada Familia Coro #1 de Chamita. She retired from the State of New Mexico; she enjoyed doing needlework, gardening and working with the homeless. Mrs. Salazar is survived by her children: Leroy Salazar and wife Cindy of Las Cruces, Chris Salazar of Chamita, Reynaldo Garcia of Alcalde, Margo and Juliet Salazar of Chamita, Melissa Salazar-Porter and husband Charles of Nambe, Lorena Salazar-Garcia and husband Richard of Chamita and Angelica Salazar and companion Anthony Lujan of Santa Fe; sister and brothers: Mercy Martinez of Chamita and brothers, Tony Martinez and wife Forty of Alcalde and Raymond Martinez of Chamita; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law: Ramona Sanchez of Alcalde, Pauline Garcia of Hernandez, Rosalie Shane and husband Charlie of El Paso, TX, Gilbert Salazar and wife Nora, Rudy “Dewey” Salazar and Helen, Lucy Serna and husband Orlando of Chamita, and Connie Rodriguez and husband Eddie of Los Lunas, and Elvira Salazar of Chamita; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; godchildren, Ruben Salazar, Micaela Maestas, Allison Salazar, Maggie Martinez, Nancy Ortiz, Rick Salazar, Helene Salazar, Shelly Serna, and Prescilla Vigil; and numerous other relatives and friends.\r\nPublic visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at the San Pedro Catholic Cemetery in Chamita with the following serving as pallbearers, Ruben Salazar, David Quintana, Anthony Salazar, Joseph Porter, Jesus Gallegos, Carlos Garcia, and Angelo Maestas. Honorary pallbearer named is Micaela Maestas. First Honor Guards: Allison, Antonio and Jose. Second Honor Guards: Angelica, Esperanza, Selena, Gabriella, Katrina, Camille and Katherine.
