Teresa Romero

Teresa Romero was born on September 14, 1921 to Benito and Guierma Duran in La Lama, New Mexico, and went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the age of 96. Teresa married Maguin Romero, Sr. and the couple had nine children.  During their married life the couple resided in Cuarteles, New Mexico.  Teresa loved to cook and spend time with her family.  Teresa also loved to babysit, and she cared for many children that she loved as if they were her own.  Teresa was preceded in death by her husband, Maguin Romero, Sr., son, Albert Romero, daughters, Viola Miera, Carol Blea, and Theresa Garcia, sister Alicia Martinez, brother Gabriel Duran, granddaughter, Diana Trujillo, grandsons, Richard and Danny Miera and Robert Trujillo, brothers-in-law, Ecolastico Martinez and Thomas Martinez, and son-in-law Samuel Serrano, Sr.  Teresa is survived by her daughters, Ferminia Serrano, Andrea Lovato (Pat), Anita Salazar (Ray), and Dorothy Martinez (Matthew); sons, Maguin Romero (Lena), and Amadeo Romero, sisters Tillie Martinez and Piedad Martinez (Luis), and sons-in-law Phillip Blea, Sr. and Eziekel Garcia, 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and many other relatives. Public visitation will begin on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. The family of Teresa Romero has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
