Teofilo Padilla

Teofilo “Toy” Padilla, 77, a longtime resident of Tres Piedras, passed away of a sudden heart attack on Wednesday, July 22, 2015.  Toy worked and retired from the N.M. State Hwy Dept. after 35 years of service. He went to work at Taos Ski Valley for almost 20 years among other jobs. He worked hard and loved every minute of it. Teofilo is survived by his wife of 40 years, Yvonne Padilla of Tres Piedras; children, Lisa Padilla-Miller (Dale) of San Cristobal, Chris Messick of Tres Piedras, Kristine Coers (Horst) of Spain, Jason Padilla (Evelyn) of Taos, Raymond Messick (Donna) of Albuquerque, Thomas Messick (Judy) of Taos, Jeannine Alexander of Seattle, WA, Rachael Padilla and  Joshua Gulley of Raton, NM; grandchildren include; Matt, Amanda, Jason Jr., Laura, Daniel, Gabriel, Kristopher, Michelle, Nicholas and Ashley,  6 great-grandchildren; Jonathan, Mateo, Athena, Kailey, Vincent and Johnny; one brother and several sisters, and numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends in Colorado and New Mexico. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. also in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial to follow at Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde with the folloinwg serving as pallbearers, Gabriel Padilla, Kristopher Messick, Matt Conklin, Josh Gulley, Jason Padilla, Jr., and Daniel Padilla. The family of Teofilo “Toy” Padilla has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
