Teodora G. Martinez left this world on November 5, 2023. She was born on May 11, 1932, to Miguel and Lupita V. Gomez in Santo Nino, New Mexico.
Teodora was a loving and nurturing person, who cared deeply for her younger sisters, who she helped raise after the passing of their mother; while still being a child herself. She carried her love and caring nature forward as she raised her children and helped to guide them throughout her life. Teodora’s devotion to her family extended through the generations to include her grand children, great grand children, and most recently, her first great-great grand daughter.
Teodora demonstrated her love of family by guiding us on our paths through the world and by sharing whatever she had or whatever she produced, which was typically some amazing meal, or the result of craft work or something she had grown in the garden, or a good laugh, courtesy of her quick-witted sense of humor. But more importantly, she shared knowledge as to ensure that we knew how to do what she knew how to do. In this way, she was assured that we could take care of ourselves. For this, and for so much more, we will always be grateful.
She will be missed so much more than the words on this page can express. We love you mom.
Teodora was preceded in death by her parents, Miguel and Lupita Gomez, her daughter, Dolores Lovato, her grandchildren, Dennis and Diane Martinez, her husband, Teodoro Martinez, her long-time companion, Audelio Romero, her sisters, Cordelia Martinez and Beatrice Gallegos, and her daughter-in-law Lucille Martinez.
Teodora is survived by her children, David Martinez, Dennis Martinez and Lupe Romero (Theresa), her grand children, David Martinez (Andrea), Darlene Martinez, DeAnn Lovato, Aaron, Matthew and Amanda Romero, great grandchildren, Derrick (Kaitlyn), Jake and Luke Martinez, Raina, Nathanial and Eric Gilbert, great-great granddaughter, McKenzie Martinez. Teodora is also survived by her special sister, Theresa Valdez and son in-law, Manuel Lovato, as well as by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
We would like to thank her caregivers for helping her over the years, and especially during the recent weeks. We appreciate you Nadine, Darlene, Lucy and Carmelita.
