SYLVIA J. MAESTAS-ROMERO, 69, a resident of Cuarteles, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Frank L. and Susie Q Maestas; 1st husband Eddie Montoya; a special uncle, Santiago Quintana; lots of other special uncles and aunts. Sylvia was born in Cuarteles. She went to many different schools like Colorado and Utah and graduated from Las Vegas, Nevada. She worked at the Española public school for 22 years and retired as a bilingual aide after, retirement she opened her own business called “Tan-All-Tanning” out of her home for more than 10 years and loved every minute of it. She loved her children very much, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her even more joy. Sylvia is survived by her son, Edward Marvin and wife Brenda Lee Montoya of La Puebla, daughter, Clarissa Romero significant other, Ted Barela of Cuarteles; grandchildren, Shaila Rivera, Candace Montoya, Ricky Gonzales, Taleya and Teddy Romero and Serenity Barela, great-grandchildren, Eddie Lee and Ethen Montoya, Alanna and Kendra Sanchez; brother, Rudy C. Maestas and wife Tina of Albuquerque; nephew, Rudy Mike Maestas of Cuarteles, Frank and wife Veronica Maestas of Albuquerque, niece, Renee and partner Marten Salazar of Albuquerque; special uncle, Joey Maestas of Las Cruses; and many cousins, God Children, relatives and friends. Sylvia will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A rosary will be recited on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. also at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada. Per Sylvia’s request private burial will be at a later date. The family of Sylvia J.
