Susie Martinez

Susie M. Martinez, 70, a resident of Upper San Pedro passed away after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. Susie was born on January 20, 1947 in Espanola. She was raised in Upper San Pedro most of her life. She worked at McCurdy School’s and Los Alamos National Laboratory as a cook, as well as different areas throughout the laboratory. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sixto E. Martinez; parents, Ben A. and Trinidad Lopez. Susie is survived her daughter and only child, Diane Trujillo and husband Harold B. Sr. her grandchildren, Hope T. Trujillo and Harold J. Trujillo Jr., brother, Joe A. Lopez and wife Barbara; sister, Yvonne Martinez and husband Paul; nieces and nephews, Stephanie Sandoval and husband Mark, Andrew Lopez and wife Michelle, Edward Lopez (Darlene Valdez), Elizabeth Martinez (Robert Griego), Camille Maestas and husband Waylon, D.J. Sandoval, Ally Sandoval; Kailee Lopez; Eric Lopez; Christopher Maestas; Michael Maestas and many other relatives. She enjoyed baking, cooking, arts and crafts and loved working side by side with her husband Sixto to plant their garden and growing roses. She loved camping, fishing, picnicking, hunting with her family & friends and spending time with them. A rosary will be recited on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with her nephews serving as pallbearers, Mark Sandoval, Andrew Lopez, Edward Lopez, Robert Griego, Waylon Maestas and good friend, Roman Aragon.  Serving as honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, Hope T. Trujillo, Harold J. Trujillo Jr. The family of Susie Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
