Sue - age 62 - Alcalde Maestas

Sue Maestas, 62, a resident of Alcalde, passed away due to a lengthy illness, on Thursday, June 12, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Viola Fernandez; brother, Frankie Fernandez. Sue is survived by her son, Chris Maestas and Amanda Aguilar; grandchildren, Nathan, Xavier and Breanna; sisters, Granny Esquibel (Antonio), Gloria Rivera (Rivers), Bernice Martinez (Nick), Vivian Norris, brothers, Juan Fernandez (Yvonne), Paul Fernandez (Sharron), Charlie Fernandez (Rosie), close niece Tracy Salazar (Rudy), and their children Ashley and Diego; close friend Rosie Romero, plus numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Burial to follow at the Velarde Catholic Cemetery with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Paul Fernandez, Anthony Esquibel, Juan Fernandez, Nathan Martinez, James Martinez, Andrew Martinez, Diego Salazar and Emmanuel Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Xavier Maestas, Breanna Maestas, Shania De Herrera, Ashley Salazar, Isaiah De Herrera and Eddie Jr. De Herrera. The family of Sue Maestas has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley
