Steve - age 35 - Hernandez Garcia

\r\nSteve Garcia, 35, a resident of Hernandez, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 8, 2014. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jose C. and Josina Herrera; paternal grandfather, Tony Garcia; uncle, Fernando “Ferna” Garcia and cousin, Patrick Martinez Jr. Steve was a very talented guitar player. He played with several bands. He was one of the best guitarist in Northern New Mexico. Steve was a very loving and giving person. He loved his family unconditionally and his family loved him just as much. Steve loved the great outdoors and would much rather be out in the woods than any other place. Steve will be greatly missed by all his family and friends and by all of those who were blessed to have met him. Steve is survived by his wife Leona Garcia; son, Gabriel Garcia of Cuarteles 4 step-grandchildren ; Kieana, Aleya, Armony, Audrina and 2 step-grandsons on the way; 4 step-children, Jessica, Cherish, Kandi and Angel of Salt Lake City, Utah; parents, Leroy and Linda Garcia of Hernandez; brothers, Ross Garcia and wife Alberta of Tierra Azul and their children, Clarabelle, Jacob and Josiah Garcia; Matthew Garcia and his children, Ambrosia, Angelica, Alexandra and Marshall Garcia; mother and father in law, Gilbert and Mary Archuleta of Servilleta; brother in law, Gilbert Archuleta Jr.; sister in law, Lori Tafoya (Tony) of Taos; paternal grandmother, Antonia Garcia of Hernandez; paternal aunts and uncles, Rosita Martinez (Fidel) of Hernandez, Isaac Garcia (Lucy) of Espanola, Brenda Garcia of El Rito, Jane Sandoval (George) of Hernandez, Irene Romero (Lee) of Truchas, Anthony Garcia (Ted) of Albuquerque, Anita Espinoza (John) of Espanola, Vicky Martinez (Jesus) of Chili, and Manuel Garcia (Elvia) of Espanola; maternal aunts and uncles, Lino Herrera (Barbara) of Alcalde, Cecilia Herrera and Viola Moe of El Guique; also surviving Steve are all his very close cousins from both the Garcia and Herrera families. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez. Carrying Steve to his final resting place will be his brothers, Matthew and Ross Garcia, Pallbearers are as follows: Manuel Garcia, Lino Herrera Jr., Juanito Sandoval, Alvin Martinez and Isaac Garcia Jr., and Gilbert Archuleta, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be his son Gabriel Garcia, padrino, Lee Romero; God son, Marshall Garcia, Brian Montano Jr., and Paul Herrera. The family would greatly appreciate any assistance with funeral expenses. Any and all donations are appreciated. Donations can be made to the Del Norte Credit Union to Lino Herrera Sr. account. The family of Steve Garcia has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
