Sophie B. - Age 84 - Santa Fe - Anaya

Sophie B. Anaya, 84, passed away at Christus St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe on Friday, December 3, 2010. Sophie was born to Francisco and Teresita Anaya on June 11, 1926 in Lamy, New Mexico. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Francisco and Teresita Anaya; daughter, Cathy Stahnke; brother, Manuel (Dora); sisters, Guaradalupita Maez (Juan), Crusita Brito (Ciriaco), Juanita LeRouge (Carlos), Luz Ortiz (Juan), Mary Garcia (Benses) Cayetana Anaya; brother-in-law, Raymond Romero and sister-in-law, Aurelia Anaya. Sophie is survived by her long-time companion, Elesio “Benero” Lopez; children, Steve Anaya amd wife Lisa, Margaret Trujillo and Christine Baca and husband Arcy; sister, Lucy Romero; brother, Johnny Anaya, grandchildren, Vanessa (Eric), Trinidad, Joe Ray (Bianca), Jason, Jeremy, Wendy (Paul), Louis “Steven” (Amorette), Alix and Savannah; great grandchildren, Eric, Arianna, Lorenzo, Evita, Ayana, Natalia, Amariah and Isaiah, great-great grandchildren, Linda and Navaeh and many other relatives and friends. Sophie, who we love, will be remembered by many fond memories; memories which will never be forgotten. She will be greatly missed by all. A rosary will be recited on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Santa Fe with memorial Mass to follow immediately after the rosary. A reception to follow at the St.Anne’s Catholic Church Parish Hall. The Anaya family has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
