Sofronia - Age 96 - Chamita - Martinez

SOFRONIA JACQUEZ MARTINEZ, 96, a resident of Chamita was called to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 23, 2014. She was born on May 20, 1918 in Gallina. On March 22, 1935 she was united in marriage to Epimenio Martinez, a school teacher and resident of Truchas. For many years while living in Truchas they were active members of the Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church. In later years the Martinez’ moved to Chamita to be closer to their daughter, Lorraine Gallegos. She was preceded in death by her husband, Epimenio Martinez; parents, Federico and Seferina Jacquez; step-mother, Teodorita Jacquez; brothers, Jose, Vicente and Leopoldo Jacquez; sister, Magdalin Jacquez. Mrs. Martinez is survived by her children, Nelson C. Martinez (Shirley A.), Elmer Martinez (Flora) and Lorraine Gallegos (Billy); sisters, Grace J. Rojas, Lucy J. Dominguez (Feliberto), Lita Tripoli (John); brother, Fred M. Jacquez (Sally); grandchildren, Carol Wall (Richard), Eric N. Martinez (Anna), Christian Vogel (Dr. Sven), Yvonne Martinez, Elmer Martinez, Jr., Frieda Martinez, Yvette Valencia (Steve), Michael Gallegos (Nancy), Billy Gallegos (Dolores), Judith Duran (Mark); great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Crystal, Caleb, Ricky, Griffin, Lilo, Noah, Dominic, Patiana, Joanna, D’Angelo, Tan, Michelle, Rochelle, Donovan, Dakotah, Kandice, Kassie, Analisa, Sarah, Grace, Marcus and many great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. A devotional service will be held on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 6:00p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Daniel Castillo officiating. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Espanola located on La Joya St. with Pastor Mike Adams officiating. Burial will be at the Truchas Presbyterian Cemetery in Truchas. Serving the family as pallbearers, Eric Martinez, Michael Gallegos, Elmer Martinez, Jr., Mark Duran, Caleb Bustos and Richard Wall. The family of Sofronia Jacquez Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
