Sirila Guillen DiLorenzo, 97, of La Villita, NM passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 18, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Epimenio and Onofre Guillen; husband, Salvatore DiLorenzo; brothers: Vicente and Valentine Guillen; great-grandchildren: Leroy Quintana Jr. and Donald Espinoza; great great-granddaughter, Natalie Espinoza; sister-in-law, Isabel Guillen; brothers-in-law, Benny Mestas and Bernie Cordova; son-in-law, Wilfred Salazar Sr. Sirila began teaching at the age of 22 in northern New Mexico. She taught a total of 38 years, 30 of those years were at Alcalde Elementary. Her students knew her as Ms. Guillen. After her retirement, she helped teach Catecism for 20 years at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. She traveled to Mexico, Rome , New York and many other states. She also spent her time weaving, quilting blankets, reading, watching novelas and the news. She not only loved but was on The Price is Right and on 64,000 questions game show. She loved and enjoyed taking and spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Maxine Salazar; grandchildren she raised as her own, Felicia Parker, Angel Quintana and husband Danny, David Salazar and wife April; grandchildren, Wilfed Jr., Lila and Norman Salazar; great-grandchildren: Marcos, Lupita, Wilfred III, Norman Jr., Alisha, Audrey, and Rhonda; great great-grandchildren: Enrique, Alejandro, Heavyn, Joziah, Ariyah, Jose, Angel, Raul, Azul, Nicholas, Haley, Maury, Missy, Robert Vanessa and Joseph; she was loved and cared for by great-granddaughter Rachel Quintana and great great-granddaughter Julianna Garcia; sisters: Trinnie Mestas and Onofrita Cordova of California; many nephews, neices and cousins. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in San Juan. Private burial to follow with the following serving as pallbearers: Norman Salazar, David Salazar, Wilfred Salazar III, Marcos Espinoza, Vincente and Valentine Guillen; honorary pallbearers: grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and colleagues who she taught with. The family of Sirila DiLorenzo has entrusted the care fo their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
