Simon (Sy) Anton Bergauer, 97, entered into rest on Sunday, July 20, 2014 due to natural causes. Simon was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Bergauer, sister Emma Bergauer, nephew-in-law, Rod Slocum; grandchild, Rodney Bergauer; and a grandnephew, Ricky Wells. Simon was born February 20, 1917 to Simon and Katherine Bergauer in St. Louis, MO. Growing up he enjoyed baseball, fishing and just being outdoors with his brother, sister and friends. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Olive Mae Bergauer; son, Timothy and wife Rhea, grandson, James and wife Jen; great-grandson Benjamin; Simon is also survived by his oldest son Jim and wife Susan and grandson, Simon and wife Devon and granddaughter, Heather, and great-grandchild, Ashley, Trevor, Logan and Rachel, and he is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. Simon spent thirty plus years as a tool and die maker at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In retirement he enjoyed running his Pajarito Machine Shop, fishing up at the cabin on the San Juan River, playing golf, and telling stories about growing up in St. Louis. He will be missed by a great number of people who knew and loved him. A private service will be held at a later date for Simon (Sy) Anton Bergauer. The family of Simon Anton Bergauer has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
