Simon Maez

SIMON MAEZ, 83, my beloved husband Simon Vicente Maez, a resident of San Pedro, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Thursday, May 5, 2016.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Lugarda Maez; siblings, Desidro, Juan, Alonzo, Rosendo, and Hilario Maez, Lupita Vigil, Eufemia Rascon, Eddie James Maez; step-son, Michael Lopez. Simon was in the U.S. Navy and lived in the State of Arkansas for many years. He was a certified welder, amazing guitar player, and had a beautiful singing voice. He was often found in his shed building cabinets, he cherished wood working, fishing, and most of all playing his guitar singing songs. Simon is survived by his wife, Emma Maez; children, Danny Maez and wife Carrie, Cheryl Griff and her husband; step-children, Fermin Lopez, Bernadette Martinez, Crystal Lopez, Eric Lopez and wife Teresa, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved and was loved dearly by each and every one of them; also by his half brothers and sisters, Benny, Cippie and Erma Maez, Cordy Dabbs, and Eliria Armijo. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
