Shaylene “Shay” Jenay Romero – Age 24 passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 02, 2012. Shay enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved children, and music, and she always kept a positive attitude and outlook on life. Her favorite quote was “Live life to the fullest and have no regrets just keep moving forward and don’t look back at the past”. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Frank Lujan. She is survived by her parents, Marylou “Lisa” Romero; Frankie Romero and wife Judy; Grandmothers: Maria Romero and companion Manuel, Frances Lopez and companion Eloid Pacheco; Grandfather, Joe Romero; Godparents, Raymond and Isabel Lujan, Stepsisters: Jeanette Duran and Husband Matthew, Jenay Vigil and companion Jacob; Stepbrother, Walter Rodriguez and companion Lisa; Aunts and Uncles: Benny Romero and fiancé Vickie, Joseph Romero and companion Melissa, John Romero and wife Tammy, Raymond Romero and wife Kassandra, Kathy Romero, and Dolores Vigil and husband Mike, Yolanda Lebya and husband Mark, Gloria Meza and husband Arturo, Norma Burrell, and Carm Vigil and companion Aaron; Nephews, Kyle, Demitri “D”, and Gabriel, “G”; Cousins that were like brothers and sisters to her: Kimberly Romero and companion Benny, Carlos Villarial, Christina Villarial and companion Ricardo, Reyna Valdez and husband Danny, Thomas Vigil and wife Ashley, Joaquin Romero and companion Melannie, Estevan Vigil and wife JoAnna, Frankie Meza, Andrew Lujan, and Cevonitue Lujan. Special friend Janice Romero (who was like a second mother) and son Genaro. As well as other numerous cousins, loving relatives, and friends. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with burial to follow at Cordova Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Carlos Villarial, Joaquin Romero, Thomas Vigil, Frankie Meza, Andrew Lujan, Matthew Leyba; honorary pallbearers will be: Walter, Kyle, and Demitri Rodriguez, Gabriel Duran, Devonique Lujan, Ron Esalio, and Genaro Martinez.The family of Shaylene “Shay” Jenay Romero has entrusted the care of their beloved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
