SERAFIN BARELA , a resident of Alcalde, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adelina Barela; son, Yancy Barela; grandson, Patrick Baca; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Serafin is survived by his brother, Eloy Barela and wife Edulia of Gypsum, CO; sister, Felonise Roybal and husband Solome of Santa Fe; sons, Ralphie Barela, Johnny Barela and wife Eugenia, Michael Barela, Leo Padilla and wife Berlina, Felix Padilla and wife Katie, and Eustacio Padilla; daughters, Myra Barela and husband Joel, Mae Torrez and husband Peter, Viola Thomas and husband Denver, Rosie Herrera and husband Toby and Mary Madrid; 33 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Johnny Barela, Adrianna Barela, Shawn Barela, Joel Chavez, Kristen Baca, Ronnie Baca, Charlie Baca, and Josie Gutierrez. The family of Serafin Barela has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
