Saviniano Gutierrez – Age 86 a resident of Ojo Caliente passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nicolassa Gutierrez; parents: Melicendro and Natividad Gutierrez; son, Steven Gutierrez; and two brothers: Timoteo and Melicendro Gutierrez. Mr. Gutierrez was a lifelong resident of Ojo Caliente, he was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He retired from the State of New Mexico Highway Department as a supervisor. Mr. Gutierrez was a member of the catholic faith and loved gardening and took great pride in growing green chili, working and staying busy was his life. He is survived by his son, Saviniano “JR” Gutierrez and wife Beverly of Hernandez; daughter, Linda Montero and husband Carlos of La Canova; three grandsons: Steven Gutierrez and wife Jenna, Eusequio Valdez and companion Alma and Nickolas Valdez all of Hernandez; six great-grandchildren; sister, Benilda Herrera of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Devina Pastora Catholic Church in La Petaca with burial to follow at Petaca Catholic Cemetery. The family of Saviniano Gutierrez has entrusted the care of their beloved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
